The NZWCS will award one or more grants up to a maximum budget of $5,000 (including GST).

Draft Pan Pacific Clinical Practice Guideline for Pressure Injury Prevention and Management
The Clinical Practice Guideline for Pressure Injury Prevention and Management has been developed by the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) and its subcommittee the Australian Pressure Injury Advisory Panel in partnership with independent, multidisciplinary experts throughout Australia and the New Zealand Wound Care Society, the Nursing Service, Ministry of Health, Singapore and Hong Kong Enterostomal Therapists Association.
This guideline is currently in Draft for Consultation. The aim of this guideline is to present current evidence for the prevention and management of pressure injuries within the Pan Pacific context.

Welcome to the New Zealand Wound Care Society Website
The New Zealand Wound Care Society Inc (NZWCS) is a voluntary organisation made up of health care professionals from a variety of disciplines who share a common interest in wound management. As an organisation it gives its members an opportunity to share experience, expertise and knowledge providing a forum to network with other members throughout the country.
The aims of the Society are:

To improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with wound and skin integrity problems.

To provide and encourage best practice wound management across all health care settings.

To be a recognised voice at national and local level in any issues relating to wound healing or maintaining skin integrity.
To achieve these aims the NZWCS has a focus on education and professional development, as well as fostering and encouraging an evidence-based approach to wound management. The Society holds regular local education sessions and study days, which are organised by Area Coordinators, and a biennial national conference. Members also receive two international wound care journals and the Society's own newsletter Tissue Issue.

Launch Australian and New Zealand Clinical Practice Guideline for Prevention and Management of Venous Leg Ulcers
This guideline was developed by the AWMA in conjunction with the NZWCS and launched at the Pan Pacific Pressure Ulcer Forum & Venous Leg Ulcer Forum in Canberra in October 2011, and the NZWCS Conference in November 2011. The guideline presents a comprehensive review of the assessment, diagnosis, management and prevention of VLUs within the Australian and New Zealand health care context.
The guideline is designed to provide information to assist in decision-making and is based on the best information available at the date of compilation. The guideline is not intended to have a regulatory effect.

The NZWCS is pleased to announce its 2012 education scholarship awards
Applications are now open for the annual NZWCS Education Schoarships.
- Four (4) awards of $250 for any education course or study day(s) that are wound care related
- Two (2) awards of $1000 for post-graduate study in Wound Management
- Three (3) awards of $1000 to attend a National or International Wound Conference
Closing date for applications is the 16th of December 2011.
