- Provide On-line Education opportunities
- Links with national and international professional organisations
The NZWCS is pleased once again to demonstrate its support of education for health professionals involved in wound management in Aotearoa/New Zealand by providing scholarships to our members. This helps us to achieve our aims, as follows;
Aims of the Society
1. To improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with wound and skin integrity problems.
2. To provide and encourage best practice wound management across all health care settings.
3. To be a recognised voice at a national and local level in any issues relating to wound healing or maintaining skin integrity.
4. To participate in relevant or appropriate national and international forums and guideline development.
These aims are achieved by several means. The NZWCS encourages education at national and local levels and provides support for members to enhance their practice and knowledge in wound management by providing annual education scholarships.

Education Related to Research
Qualitative Research 101
RICHARD EGAN, Associate Professor, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine and co-Director Social and Behavioural Research Unit, University of Otago.
SALINA IUPATI, Palliative Care Specialist, Te Omanga Hospice, Lower Hutt.
This insightful evening webinar explores qualitative approaches in palliative care research from academic, clinical, and research perspectives.
Research is often required for various audits, and rural areas may lack access to substantial quantitative data. Qualitative data not only complements the statistical analysis of quantitative data but can also be applied across different research areas. This webinar is available through Mobile Health, click the link below.
NZWCS Research Grants
The New Zealand Wound Care Society (NZWCS) Research Grant has been established to support New Zealand-based research into any area that is related to wounds, wound healing or wound management (including prevention).
The NZWCS will award one or more grants up to a maximum budget of $5,000 (including GST).
The number and value of the awards that are made will depend on the quality of the applications that are received. These grants are likely to be used as seeding funds, which will enable researchers to gain preliminary information that can be used to prepare applications for large-scale grants from different funding bodies.
Submission of Applications
Online applications open on 1 October and close on 30 November. Applicants must read the Instructions and Guidelines for Research Grant (below box) before starting the online application.
Only applications using the online application form will be considered. Supporting documents are to be emailed the same day. Supporting documents must be submitted as an attachment, either MS Word or PDF, in a single file.
